Number of pigs in England has decreased

According to DEFRA, the total number of pigs in England has decreased by 3.6 % since December 2014 to just over 3.5 million.

According to DEFRA, the total number of pigs in England has decreased by 3.6 % since December 2014 to just over 3.5 million. With the female breeding herd showing a 1.1 % increase, the decrease in the total number of pigs was driven by a 4.3 % fall in fattening pigs to just over 3.1 million.

These results are from t he December Pigs Survey as at 1 December 2015.
