On November 30, Brazil reported to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) that there were five confirmed cases of classical swine fever (CSF) on a backyard farm in Cocal de Telha, Piauí. The outbreak started on November 23.

According to WOAH, the suspicion was detected within passive surveillance carried out in backyard pigs. Investigations continue in order to identify epidemiological links. Stamping out will be applied with the disposal of the remaining animals on the premises. The state of Piauí is not part of the CSF-free zone of Brazil and there are movement restrictions on animals and products between this zone and the CSF-free zone.
