China: Good prospects for pork, corn, and soy production

In 2021, China's ability to secure supplies of grains and important agricultural products will improve further. The area of corn planted is expected to increase by more than 4% and pork production is expected to increase by 20%.

Over the next 10 years, China's agricultural structure will continue to be optimized and the quality and efficiency of development will continue to increase. The average annual growth rate for corn, pork, milk, and other products will be more than 2%. Yields of corn and soybeans are expected to increase significantly. International trade in agricultural products will become more active and diversification of trading partners is expected.

In order to maintain a pig herd at pre-ASF levels with an annual production of 49.27 million tons, the supply of soybeans and corn is expected to increase further, while imports of pork and poultry are expected to decrease.
