The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) reported that in 2024, Peru's agricultural sector grew by 4.9% compared to the previous year. This growth was driven by crops such as lima beans (+166%), quinoa (+57.2%), and blueberries (+53.4%), which benefited from improved weather conditions.
The livestock subsector grew due to increased production of chicken (+2.0%), pork (+4.0%), turkey (+29.4%), and cattle (+1.7%). This growth was attributed to higher demand for meat and livestock products, as well as improved availability of feed inputs. The growth in pork and turkey production was particularly driven by seasonal demand, while the 2.7% increase in raw cow's milk production was supported by better pastures due to rainfall.

In December 2024, the agricultural sector recorded a 7.5% growth, with crops rising by 10.8% and livestock production by 2.7%. The livestock subsector maintained its upward trend with higher production of chicken (+3.1%), pork (+4.4%), and turkey (+26.7%), driven by year-end demand and the supply for processed meat production. These results reflect an expanding sector, supported by favorable weather conditions and a dynamic domestic market.
