Philippine Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala has signed a new administrative order (AO) revising the guidelines on the handling of imported meat.

National Meat Inspection Service Executive Director Jane Bacayo said that the new order took into account recommendations by US meat exporters, particularly a provision calling for frozen meat products sold in local markets to be kept at a temperature not higher than 5°C. It also allows meat retailers to keep their products in coolers.
