The Federal Inspection Service (SIF) released the fourth edition of the activities report on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sector's activities. According to the document, in the month of May 132 additional slaughter shifts were carried out as an emergency request from poultry, cattle, and pig slaughterhouses registered with SIF.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply (MAPA) together with stakeholders from the production sector have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation and cases in the plants along with the measures adopted to protect the workers in carrying out their duties. On July 3, a total of nine slaughterhouses halted their production for reasons related to COVID-19. However, inspections show that pig slaughter remained practically stable in the months of April and May, seeing a 1% decrease.
