The 88th outbreak of African swine fever in Poland for 2020 was confirmed on a farm located outside the areas listed in the Annex to Commission Implementing Decision 2014/709/EU709 concerning animal health control measures relating to African swine fever in certain Member States.
The farm held 110 pigs and is located in the village of Łaszków in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. Samples for laboratory testing were taken following the death of a sow when symptoms indicating ASF were found during necropsy. Epizootic experts from the Chief Veterinary Inspectorate (GIW) are working to determine what caused the outbreak.
Since 333's last update on the ASF situation in Poland, eight more outbreaks have been reported, affecting a total of 2,443 animals. This brings the total number of cases for September so far to 13. Ninety cases have been confirmed so far in 2020.
These recent outbreaks were reported in the Lublin (2), Subcarpathian (2), Greater Poland (3), and Masovian (1) Voivodeships.
