The fourth ASF outbreak in 2020, and the outbreak on backyard farm in the west, was confirmed in a holding with 24 pigs, in Ratowice in the municipality of Lipno, Leszno County, Wielkopolskie Province. The holding is located in a surveillance zone (Part I of the Annex to Commission Implementing Decision 2014/709/EU).
The village is located in a region where many dead boars were found and where ASF was confirmed. The outbreak is located about 130 km from the German border.
This is the second ASF outbreak in this province. The first one was in April this year, on a farm with over 10,000 pigs.
The so called "blue zone" is determined within a radius of about 3 km from the ASF outbreak. Movement of pigs to other holdings or to slaughterhouses will be possible after the official veterinarian has issued a health certificate and obtained a decision from the district veterinarian about the movement of pigs. Following these documents, pigs may be moved directly to another holding or slaughterhouse within this zone. The pigs must be examined by an official veterinarian not less than 24 hours before being moved.
