The grant will be available to livestock farmers who promote animal health and welfare by improving living conditions by increasing space per animal by at least 20% in relation to the minimum area currently required, or by allowing the animals access to open spaces.

The annual grants will be:

  • 301 zloty per sow (for increasing pen space)
  • 24 zloty per fattening pig (for increasing pen space)

Aid for pigs (sows, fattening pigs) to have access to open spaces is also provided in the 'Animal Welfare' plan. However, due to the presence of ASF in Poland, these subsidies will not be implemented in the 2020 program.

The application is submitted electronically, through the eWniosekPlus app. The deadline is May 15, 2020.

The Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development estimates that approximately 65,000 farmers will benefit from the Animal Welfare aid. Fifty million euros have been budgeted for the 2014-2020 period.
