After the detection of only 2 cases of African swine fever in domestic pigs in the first five months of 2019, the Polish authorities have confirmed 5 new outbreaks in June, this making that so far this year 7 outbreaks of the disease have been recorded in domestic pigs. Of these, 3 have been detected in the danger area, and the rest in the restriction area. We must highlight the largest outbreak, that has affected a farm located in Wolka Wygonowska, voivodate of Podlaskie, in the restriction area, with more than 8,000 susceptible animals.

The last outbreak has been detected on a farm located in the commune of Kruklanki, district of Giżycko, with a total of 132 susceptible pigs. The farm is located in the danger area, several kilometres away from the first and second outbreaks registered in 2019.
