During the first Polish Agriculture Congress, that was held in Gniewino, the Secretary of State, Mr. Tadeusz Nalewajk, highlighted the 10th anniversary of the incorporation of Poland into the EU and its repercussion on this country's food and agriculture sector, underlining the increase in competitiveness of the Polish agricultural products. According to Nalewajk, Poland is the sixth food producer in the EU.
Stanislaw Kalemba, member of the Parliament and ex-Minister of Agriculture remembered that last year the value of the food and agriculture products exportations reached the record figure of €19,900 million.
With respect to the pig sector, and although Poland has suffered an important decrease in the size of its herd, going from approximately 17.4 million heads in 2004 to 11 million heads in 2013, in year 2012 Poland was the fourth frozen pork exporter in the EU.
