Poland: Single ASF outbreak affected thousands of pigs, cases continue

In about a week, eight more ASF outbreaks have occurred in the country. One of the outbreaks affected 6,000 pigs.

According to reports from the Chief Veterinary Inspectorate (GIW), eight more outbreaks of African swine fever have occurred in domestic pigs within a span of about a week (based on tests run August 30 - September 2). One of these outbreaks occurred on a large farm affecting 6,480 pigs in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

Four more outbreaks occurred during this time in the Lubelskie Voivodeship affecting 664 pigs, and three outbreaks were reported in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship affecting 86 pigs.

Together with the previously reported ASF outbreaks, the country has had a total of 82 outbreaks affecting 11,344 animals so far in 2020.
