Due to the increase in the number of falls and injuries of livestock in the summer season, as well as reports of confirmed cases of inhumane treatment of animals in slaughterhouses, the Chief Veterinary Officer ordered the intensification of supervision by local Veterinary Inspection authorities.

In the months of June-July 2021, employees of the Voivodeship Veterinary Inspectorates will carry out ad hoc inspections of 6-10 establishments, selected on the basis of risk analysis, in each voivodeship that slaughters pigs or cattle and will check compliance with welfare requirements both during the reception of animals, their stunning, and slaughter. The results of the ordered inspections and follow-up actions will be known in the first half of August this year.
