Farms produced 42,750 tonnes in 2016, supplying 35% of the domestic consumption, which entails an increase by 15%, according to Mr. Edgardo Leiva, representative of the Pig Producers' National Association of Honduras (Anapoh).

The consumption per capita in Honduras is 5.06 kg, of which 35% is supplied by the national producers.

Other figures establish that the net global consumption of pork reaches some 39 thousand tonnes per year, of which some 30% are consumed in San Pedro Sula and 45% in Tegucigalpa, and the rest (25%) is distributed at a national level.
