According to figures from CentralAmericaData, over the last 5 years, pork consumption in Central America has increased by 42%, rising from 197,000 tonnes in 2014 to around 279,000 tonnes in 2019.

Growth was driven by the Salvadoran and Honduran markets.

The report "Market Snapshot de Carne de Cerdo" (Market Snapshot of Pork), also states that in 2018, 80% of the pork volume in Central America corresponded to local production, while the remaining 20% was imported by companies.
