Portugal exports more pork in first 3 quarters of 2020

Export volume of pork and pork products increased by 42% between January and September 2020.

Exports of pork and pork products increased 42% in volume, between January and September 2020, when compared to the same period in 2019. Export volume was 50,865 tonnes for the period in 2020 compared to 72,303 tonnes for the same period in 2019. With regard to the total value, this represents an increase of 53% in the same reference period, from 9.26 billion euros to 14.18 billion euros.

Exports of pork and pork products, in this period in relation to the same period, are broken down as follows:

  • Frozen pork exports increased about 79%, from 13,752 tonnes to 24,636 tonnes;
  • Exports of fresh / chilled pork decreased approximately 5%, from 9,286 tonnes to 8,828 tonnes;
  • Offal exports increased 12.7%, from 8,276 tonnes to 9,327 tonnes.
