According to the provisional data published by the GPP, and provided by the INE, regarding the trade of pigs in Portugal between January and December 2017, the imports of pigs decreased by 0.9% in terms of heads (from 1,222,633 heads in 2016 to 1,211,751 heads in 2017), and by 0.2% in terms of tonnes (214,604.1 tonnes in 2017 versus 214,125.6 tonnes in 2017).
In the case of the imports of fresh and refrigerated pork, they rose by 3.2%, going from 82,665.1 tonnes in 2016 to 85,260.1 tonnes in 2017. The imports of frozen pork increased by 7.2% (23,889.3 tonnes in 2016 versus 25,617.1 tonnes in 2017). The imports of offal grew by 1.3%, going from 1,848.2 tonnes in 2016 to 1,871.8 tonnes in 2017.
