Portuguese pork exports on the rise

The export of pigs for slaughter increased by 26.8% between January and March 2020 compared to 2019, from 63,762 heads to 87,098.

Regarding pork exports, during the first quarter of this year Portugal increased its sales abroad by 9.1% compared to the same period in 2019, with total sales of 20,469 t. By type of pork, exports of frozen pork increased by 36.6 % (3,837 t), while fresh and chilled pork increased by 5 % (4,540 t in 2019 to 4,780 t in 2020). Offal sales increased by 3.6% (2,846 t in 2019 to 2,953 t in 2020).
