The good news is that the interruption of rains in the coming days will allow the harvest of the first crop to be completed before the end of the first half of May without adding major headaches to producers. South-central Santa Fe and southeastern Córdoba are the areas most advanced with 87% harvested. Southern Santa Fe and northeastern Buenos Aires harvested 83%. And the most delayed area is the northwest of Buenos Aires, which harvested 60% of the first crop soybeans.
Regarding the second crop, the center-south and south of Santa Fe harvested 70% of the crop. While in the north of Buenos Aires between 20% and 50% of the crop was harvested.
Recently a cold front managed to advance towards the center of the Pampa region, displacing the warm and humid air that prevailed, causing a resounding change in environmental conditions. Producers and technicians are enthusiastic over these first cold spells, commenting that it is an opportunity to reduce the leafhopper population and lower the risk for the next corn planting.
