IICA's Agricultural Health, Safety and Food Quality (AHFS) Program focuses on promoting a competitive and sustainable agricultural sector capable of providing safe food through effective policies. It promotes institutional strengthening, the harmonization of standards, the development of skills to adopt good practices, and attention to health, plant, and safety emergencies, focusing especially on transboundary emergencies.

In addition to the decision to strengthen IICA's Agricultural Health, Safety and Food Quality (AHFQ) Program, with four decades of experience and constant results for the countries, the ministers also called for funding to run the brand-new Agriculture Tomorrow Interpretation Center (CIMAG), which is based in Costa Rica, and will possible be replicated in the Institute's member states.
