On June 25, the first shipment of pork from Rio Grande do Sul to the Philippines was sent. The product comes from Alibem's meatpacking plants in Santo Ângelo and Santa Rosa, and is Rio Grande do Sul's first export to the Asian country.

The Philippines is an important market for Brazilian pork, says Rogério Kerber, president of the RS Animal Health Defense and Development Fund. According to him, it should be the second largest buyer in 2024, second only to China. In 2023 it was the third-largest market, with more than 126,000 tons of pork exported.

In December 2023, Rio Grande do Sul was part of the itinerary of the Philippine mission that came to evaluate the Brazilian health defense system and culminated in the achievement of system accreditation.
