Russia - African Swine Fever Outbreak among Wild Boars in the Rostov Oblast

The diagnosis of African swine fever was made after laboratory tests were performed in the Rostov Regional Veterinary Laboratory on samples of pathologic material taken from 13 dead boars in the hunting entity Verkhnesvechnikovskoye of the Kasharskiy Rayon, the Rostov Oblast. At the present moment, measures are taken in accordance with the Temporary instruction on prevention and eradication of African swine fever.

The diagnosis of African swine fever was made after laboratory tests were performed in the Rostov Regional Veterinary Laboratory on samples of pathologic material taken from 13 dead boars in the hunting entity Verkhnesvechnikovskoye of the Kasharskiy Rayon, the Rostov Oblast. At the present moment, measures are taken in accordance with the Temporary instruction on prevention and eradication of African swine fever.

At the other hand, as has been reported earlier, laboratory tests performed in the Kaliningrad interregional veterinary laboratory in the framework of the ASF monitoring of samples taken from wild boars shot in hunting entities of the Pravdinsk district of the Kaliningrad Oblast and from a domestic pig shot during backyard slaughter in the settlement Kostyukovka of the Pravdinsk district of the Kaliningrad Oblast gave positive results. Laboratory tests performed in the All-Russia Research Institute of Veterinary Virology and Microbiology (SSI ARRIVV&M of the Rosselkhozacademy) have not confirmed the diagnosis.
