Sergey Levin emphasized that access of Russian crop and livestock products to the Vietnamese market is top priority for the country. Thanks to the constructive work of the phytosanitary services of the two countries, it was possible to resume grain exports to the Vietnamese market. As for livestock products, the head of the Vietnamese delegation confirmed his readiness to send experts in the near future to conduct an audit of the Russian system of veterinary control and inspection of suppliers.
The parties also noted the successful development of investment cooperation. In Moscow and Kaluga regions a joint project is being implemented with the Vietnamese concern TH True Milk to create a complex for the production of milk and dairy products.
During a meeting with Osawa Makoto, Sergey Levin said that in 2018, compared with 2017, the agricultural products turnover between the countries grew by more than 30% and amounted to $ 430 million - of which $ 385 million accounted for Russian exports. At the same time, according to him, these figures do not reflect the potential for cooperation between the two countries. In addition, fish and seafood predominate in the structure of trade, and efforts should be made to diversify it.
The meeting participants also discussed the implementation of a joint Russian-Japanese project to increase the productivity of agriculture and fisheries in the Russian Far East. The construction of greenhouses and pig-breeding complexes adapted to the climatic conditions of the Far East, as well as logistics infrastructure projects are considered to be very promising.
