According to the information provided by the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil, the Russian health service (Rosselkhoznadzor) authorised 87 plants to export meat and offal to Russia last 6 August. In this package of measures 2 dairy products plants were also included. A week later, on 14 August, the list of establishments approved for exporting their products to Russia was increased, including 4 pig abattoirs.
Russia is the main destination for the Brazilian pork and beef exports. In 2013, 303 thousand tonnes of beef and 134 thousand tonnes of pork were sold to Russia.
