On October 9th there was a videoconference held by the Veterinary and Plant Health Surveillance Federal Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) on the spreading of the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus in the Russian Federation. Representatives of the regions of Krasnodar, Adygea, Rostov, Voronezh and Volgograd attended the meeting.

The assistants concluded that the main reason for the spreading of the ASF in the Krasnodar territory was the non-compliance of the biosecurity systems.

During the plan for the prevention of the spreading and the eradication of the ASF virus, in the first 9 months of this year in Krasnodar, 108 inspections have been carried out in order to establish the compliance of the animal health requirements in the pig farms. According to the results, 25 farms do not fulfil the veterinary regulations. In the majority of the cases the biosecurity principles are violated.
