The veterinary authorities of China and Russia have maintained telephone negotiations focused on the details of the forthcoming visit of the Chinese experts to Russia with the purpose to get familiarized with the pig farms willing to export their products to China. Chinese side could not specify the expected visit dates saying that imports of meat products from Russia pose a significant risk for China due to ASF outbreaks reported in the country. Therefore, the Chinese side believes it is reasonable to consider a possibility of supplying heat-treated animal products.
Yevgeny Nepoklonov expressed his disappointment with the Chinese position emphasizing the fact that epizootic safety in Russia is ensured on a high level. It can be confirmed by implementation of electronic systems ensuring maximum traceability of production and product movements.
