During briefing consultations held today the Rosselkhoznadzor received Instruction of the Department of Veterinary and Food Surveillance of the Belarus Ministry of Agriculture, signed by Yury Pivovarchik, Chief Veterinary Officer of Belarus. The Instruction imposes restrictions on importation and transit of a number of animal products including live pigs, boar semen, pork and processed pork, etc as well as of previously used equipment for pig keeping, slaughter and dressing. The Instruction also emphasizes the need to take additional measures for control of biological protection level on pig farms.

It is further stated in the Instruction that due to the absence of borders between the EU countries and due to free movement of regulated goods bearing ASF transmission risks, negotiations between the Veterinary Services of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Rosselkhoznadzor as well as consultations with the EU Veterinary Services will be held for discussion of practicability of introduction of temporary restrictions on importation of such products into the Customs Union from the whole territory of the European Union.
