Yury Kovalev, General Director of the National Union of Pork Producers, noted that the top five Russian companies now account for 85-90% of pork exports. Russian pork is competitive in foreign markets both in terms of quality and price.
He noted that due to favorable conditions in the world pork market at the beginning of this year, the weakening of the ruble, and lower domestic prices in dollars began an active recovery of exports after its decline in 2022.
"Pork supplies to Belarus continue to grow and sales to Vietnam have recovered. Today we see that despite the fact that many countries are open for export, active supplies are going to ten countries. In the export structure, 40% of the exports are to countries near abroad, and another 40% to the countries of South-East Asia, primarily Vietnam and Hong Kong (+95% and 34% respectively). Supplies to Mongolia (+40%) and Serbia (+113%) are growing," said Yuri Kovalev.
