According to what has been published by the Ministry of Agriculture of Spain through its foreign news bulletin, during the period from January to November 2013, the production of livestock and poultry intended for their slaughter reached 10.7 million tonnes in terms of live weight, and this entails 5.4 % more than during the previous year.
The production of pigs for its slaughtering (in terms of live weight) rose by 11.6 %, that of sheep and goats by 0.3 %, and that of poultry by 5.7 %, whilst the production of cattle fell by 1.5 %.
The swine census amounted to 19.7 million heads, or 102 % with respect to the same period in 2012, and that of fowl amounted to 399.3 million heads, or 101.5 %.
