The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) representatives emphasized the need to adopt, as soon as possible, amendments to the Russian legislation in the field of veterinary medicine in terms of implementing a unified system of animal identification. It was separately noted that this is a key aspect to traceability of food products and will allow successful work to be done in opening new markets for Russian products.

The OIE experts also noted the need to implement a single system of control over the use of veterinary drugs as one of the most important elements in ensuring food safety.
