The negotiations between Yevgeny Nepoklonov, Chief Veterinary Officer, Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, and Harpreet Kochhar, Chief Veterinary Officer of Canada, took place on the sidelines of the 83d OIE General Session in Paris on May 27, 2015. Aspects of supplied animal product safety assurance were discussed.
The parties found a common understanding of implementation of regionalization and compartmentalization principles for mutual supplies of animal products. The Rosselkhoznadzor noted that Russian producers are highly interested in export of their porcine products to Canada. For this purpose, the Rosselkhoznadzor suggested the Canadian party to conduct assessment of regionalization and compartmentalization principles implemented in Russia for their compliance to Canadian and international standards. The Canadian party agreed the proposed approaches. The Rosselkhoznadzor will forward relevant written materials in the nearest future.
