Russian veterinary authorities have confirmed a new outbreak of African swine disease in a farm with 194 susceptible animals in Bryansky (Bryanskaya).

Suspicion that the farm was affected (peasant farm «L’vov A.L.») arose during the epidemiological investigation of the outbreak in Tul’skaya Oblast (breeding factory «Lasarevskoye»), which started on 15 January 2014. Laboratory tests confirmed that the slaughtered swine were infected by African swine fever virus. Currently, measures are being implemented in this farm in order to eliminate the outbreak. In the near future, all swine (194 heads from the fattening group) will be destroyed (by euthanasia and incineration). The most probable source of the virus in the farm «L’vov A.L.» is the breeding factory «Lasarevskoye», Tul’skaya Oblast.
