Russia: new outbreak of Classical Swine Fever

A total of 35 animals (wild boars) were found susceptible to the CSF.

Classical Swine Fever in wild boars at two hunting areas located in Vladimirskaya Oblast and Smolenskaya Oblast.

Throughout the month of August the OIE has informed on the appearance of several outbreaks of Swine Fever and Foot & Mouth Disease in Russia.

In the course of testing of pathological material taken from a pig found dead in backyard farm "OAO Kovrovski lesokombinat" in Melehovo village (the Kovrov Rayon, the Vladimir Oblast) positive results for classical swine fever were obtained by the All-Russian Research Institute of Veterinary Virology and Microbiology (GNU VNIIVViM).

Classical swine fever has been discovered in wild boars in a game husbandry "Znamenskoye", Ugransky, in Smolenskaya Oblast.

According to the recommendations of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code the Rosselkhoznadzor is imposing temporary restrictions on the import of live pigs and pork from the Vojvodina region, Serbia from December 2, 2010.
