Since last Thursday, November 1st, Russia allows, once again, the imports of Brazilian pork and beef. The imports of this kind of meats from Brazil had been forbidden since early December 2017, due to the crossed (accidental) contamination with ractopamine (growth promoter) in the formulation of feeds fed to the animals.
The Russian document points out that it is possible to eliminate the restrictions imposed on all the exporting companies, bearing in mind the testing of the measures implemented by Brazil and the guarantees provided by the Agriculture and Livestock Secretariat of the Ministry with respect to the fulfilment of the conditions regarding the production and the sales of products from Brazilian companies. The Russian health service also tested the results of the laboratorial studies of products produced by Brazilian companies.
The Minister hopes that with the resumption of the exports, the companies catch the breath that they have lost during 2018 with the lorry drivers' strike and the subsequent shortage caused by the standstill.
