In Russia, the press service of the Council of Ministers has reported that Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed decrees on the temporary ban of grain exports to the states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and sugar to third countries.

According to the statement, the export of such cereals as wheat, meslin (a mixture of wheat and rye), rye, barley, and corn is prohibited until June 30, 2022. The export of white and cane sugar is prohibited until August 31.

The statement specifies that these measures are taken to protect the domestic food market from external restrictions. According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, the country is more than 150% self-sufficient in cereals.
