According to Rosselkhoznadzor, laboratory tests of Canadian pig product consignments exported to Russia demonstrated consistent increase in detections of harmful substances including ractopamine growth promoter banned in the CU within the last ten months. Rosselkhoznadzor immediately informed the Canadian Veterinary Service about each case of violation of the CU and Russia’s Law.

Despite of intense talks aimed at prevention of unsafe Canadian product entry to the Russian Federation, Rosselkhoznadzor is compelled to impose temporary restrictions on pork and other pig product export from Canada to Russia.

Imports of these products are currently banned under the restrictions on food imports that Russia imposed on August 7 for a period of one year.
