In 2021, Russian exports of agricultural products totaled $37.1 billion. This was 21% higher than in 2020. Thus, exports of these products surpassed the previous record achieved in 2020. During the year, Russia supplied more than 71 million tons of food and agricultural raw materials to foreign markets.
All major food product groups demonstrated growth. The value of grain exports increased by 12%, oil and fats by 48%, fish and seafood by 25%, meat products by 32%, dairy products by 30%, food and processing industry products by 15%, and other products by 12%.
Last year more than 160 countries became importers of agricultural products from Russia. Turkey, which increased its purchases by 38% to $4.3bn, held the first place among the largest purchasers. China fell to the second position, reducing imports of Russian agricultural products by 12% to 3.6 billion dollars. Kazakhstan ($2.8bn, +33%), the Republic of Korea ($2.5bn, +41%), and Belarus ($1.8bn, +28%) were also among the top 5 buyers.
