According to results from Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision, in the first 8.5 months of the year there was a twofold increase in the export of live animals from Russia as compared with the same period of 2021.
In the period, more than 114,700 head of pigs (48.3% of the total volume), cattle (10.9%), and small ruminants (40.8%) were shipped. In the first 8.5 months of last year, the total volume was 56,300 heads.
Georgia (51,600 heads) and Armenia (3,700 heads) have significantly increased purchases of live pigs this year.
