In the first trimester of 2018, the production of pigs to be slaughtered in terms of live weight on the farms of all categories was 1.1 million tonnes: 9.3% more in comparison with 2017. The production by agricultural organisations amounted 960,100 tonnes (+12.1% with respect to 2017).
The main growth in pig production was seen on commercial farms in the regions of Voronezh, Pskov, Kursk, Tomsk and Tver, whilst drops were detected in Chelyabinsk, Omsk, the republics of Crimea, Udmurtia and Kabardino-Balkaria, as well as in the region of Perm.
