Leading Santa Catarina's agribusiness exports, the meat sector's revenue totaled US$ 1.34 billion in the first four months of 2023. There were 600,000 tons of meat exported (chicken, pork, turkey, duck and teal, beef, among others), representing an increase of 10.5% in the quantity exported and 20.8% in revenue compared to the same period in 2022. These figures are from the Ministry of Economy and were analyzed by the Center for Socioeconomics and Agricultural Planning (Epagri/Cepa).

The biggest swine producer in the country, Santa Catarina was responsible for 55.4% of the exported quantity and 56.6% of the Brazilian revenues this year. The positive results of this period are due to the growth of shipments to most of the main destinations, especially China, increasing 8.8% in quantity and 30.4% in value, and Chile +70.1% in quantity and 98.3% in value.

In the first four months of the year, Santa Catarina exported 206,700 tons of pork, with revenues of US$ 504.2 million, representing year-on-year increases of 13.5% and 27.8%, respectively. China and Hong Kong were responsible for 49.4% of the Catarina shipments in this first four-month period.
