The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) was informed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply about the opening of the Singapore market for pork offal produced in Brazil.
The authorization is valid for all Brazilian facilities authorized to export pork to Singapore. Currently, 29 plants are able to ship bone-in and boneless pork to this destination.
Singapore, which is already a major importer of Brazilian pork, increased its purchases in 2020. As the third main destination (behind China and Hong Kong), Singapore imported 32,000 tons between January and July, a volume 49% higher than in the first seven months of 2019.
"The clearance of offal sales to Singapore comes at a highly favorable time in terms of business with this market. In 2020 alone, nine new plants were authorized to ship products. The opening of the market to a product segment so appreciated in the region reinforces the Asian position as the new world's largest hub of international business for Brazilian animal protein," says Francisco Turra, president of ABPA.
