Taking advantage of the state visit, at the end of March, of the Chinese First Minister Xi Ping, a meeting was held between the French Minister of Agriculture, Stéphane Le Foll, the French Deputy Minister of Agribusiness, Guillaume Garot, and the Chinese Quarantine Minister, Zhi Shuping. The French Ministers asked the Chinese authorities for the ending of the procedure so the meat exports can begin before the Food Fair to be held in Shanghai in May.
For their part, the Chinese authorities have issued a list with 18 French companies and 39 cold stores that are allowed to export pig and fowl meat to the Chinese market. The publishing of this list is good news in a period in which the French food industry has been fighting to increase its exports, and the Chinese market is an opportunity for many companies.
In terms of animal genetics, the exports of French breeding pigs has been reinforced after the signing of a protocol revised by the Ministers Le Foll and Shuping.
