South Korea has once again expanded its tariff rate quota for pigmeat imports as it looks to curb food price inflation following outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and avian flu.

The Asian nation will allow a further 20,000t of pigmeat to be imported free of tariffs on top of the 110,000t TRQ announced earlier this year. It will also allow up to 10,000 dairy cows and 50 ,00t of poultrymeat to be imported free of tariffs by the year-end, the finance ministry said in a statement.
