South Korea’s Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MIFAFF) has announced that it will establish a “nationwide hog farm management system” that will enable a comprehensive farm-to-slaughter management of hogs to improve the farming environment and prevent swine fever.

Each of South Korea’s 9,500 hog farms will be issued a unique five-digit livestock business registration code. The status of each hog farm will be fed into the Korea Animal Health Information System (KAHIS) run by the National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service (NVRQS).
