- The European Union is projected to see a 1.4% contraction in its sow herd, from 10.4 to 10.25 million head.
- The sow inventories in the United States and Canada are estimated to reach 6.09 and 1.21 million head, down 0.2% and 1.6%, respectively.
- For Brazil* and Mexico, the leading producers in Latin America, growth of 3.2% and 0.4% is expected, with sow inventories of 3.2 and 1.31 million head, respectively.
- Other countries, such as Russia, South Korea, and Japan, are expected to see slight growth in their sow inventories of no more than 0.5%.
*The figure for Brazil includes sows in both industrial and backyard farms.
