Yesterday the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, chaired the Sectorial Conference of Agriculture and Rural Development, during which the specific program of controls of pig farms was approved, to ensure an effective and homogeneous application of the royal decree for the management of intensive pig farms.
This is the first time that a plan of this type has been approved, which involves inspecting pig farms to verify compliance with the requirements that led to their authorization. It is configured as a coordination mechanism with the autonomous communities, which are the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with these regulations in their respective territories.
The intention of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is to complete this control program with the drafting of guidance documents to facilitate the inspection process.
