The Ministry of Agriculture of Spain has just published the results regarding the stockbreeders' survey of November 2018 according to which Aragon, with a record pig census of 8,073,140 heads, has beaten Catalonia (7,778,902), placing as the first pig producing Autonomous Community in Spain.
Aragon and Catalonia gather more than half of the total Spanish pig census, that as of November 2018 (provisional data) reached 27,517,008 heads (the Iberian pig census not included).
These two Autonomous Communities are followed by Castile and Leon, with 3,190,081 heads; Murcia (1,962,651), Andalusia (1,654,100) and Castile-La Mancha (1,581,410).
Regarding the census of sows, Catalonia still leads the census, with 597,351 heads, followed by Aragon, with 543,231 heads.
