Last year, Spanish exports of pork to third countries (all products included) reached 1,183,750 t, representing a 37% increase over the previous year, with total exports at 869,540 t.
Given this figure, Spain is the leader among the main European exporters to third countries. It is followed by Germany with 1,057,070 t, Denmark (711,710 t), the Netherlands (605,620 t), France (277,620 t) and Poland (247,230 t).
In terms of product type, frozen pork accounts for over half of Spanish pork products exported to third countries (778,420 t), followed by offal (280,500 t).
The main destination for Spanish pork continued to be China, with 2019 exports to the country doubling from 315,140 tonnes in 2018 to 668,780 tonnes in 2019. With regard to total exports (including intra-Community destinations), after China, the second most important destination for Spanish pork was France, followed by Italy, Portugal, Japan, the Philippines, Poland and South Korea.
