The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment, Ms. Isabel García Tejerina, has highlighted that Spain recovered, in 2016, the first place in the European Union regarding the Agricultural Income, with a difference of more than €3,000 million with respect to Italy and France.
During her appearance before the Prime Minister's question time at the House of Representatives, Ms. García Tejerina pointed out that, according to the estimate made by her Ministry, the Agricultural Income reached, in current terms, €25,687.7 million in 2016, which entails a rise by 6.9% with respect to 2015. She also underlined that the Agrarian Branch reached €46,807 million, its historic record.
Ms. García Tejerina has also pointed out that, comparing the variations in the national agricultural income in the European Union, in the EU there has been a drop in the Agricultural Income per Agricultural Work Unit (AWU), in constant terms, by 2.1%, whilst in Spain it has risen by 4.4%.
