The Spanish Animal Health and Nutrition industry reached in 2014 an overall turnover of €1195.54 M —a 9.51% growth over the previous year—, of which €795.99 M belong to the internal market turnover, which translates into an increase of 8.09% compared to 2013.
All thanks to the strong boost, one more year, experienced by the foreign market last year, which grew to €399.55 M —a growth of 12.47%—, accounting now for 33% of total market value and confirming the high quality of Spanish medicinal and animal health products and their growing international confidence.
By regions, the domestic market is headed once again by Catalonia, with 24,66% of the total €196.29 M, followed by Castilla and León with more than 11.71% and €93.21 M. Andalusia, with 9.69% and €77.13 M, comes last at the top of the list.
The sector's overall growth is also reflected in the products market, headed, in percentage terms, by Additives and Premixes —with 11.93 and more than €145 M—, and Pharmaceuticals —with an increase of 8.53%, representing however €339,78 M.
As a species, pigs head the group with €287.01 M (36.06%), followed by beef with €197.16 M (24.77%) and dogs and cats with €189.18 M (23.77%), the three of them adding up to €673.35 M and a 84.6%.
